Announcements:

MJHS Spirit Week - This week we are celebrating Spirit Week.  We will have dress up days and a pep rally with games, prizes, fall team sports recognition and cheering on Friday.  Throughout the week your teachers will be handing out tickets for exceptional school spirit that will enter you in multiple raffles during the pep rally to win prizes of sweets and snacks, meals at local restaurants, football and basketball game tickets and more.  If you would like to participate in games during the pep rally against your fellow students and teachers to win prizes, please sign-up during lunch.  All of this will lead up to the MJHS football team playing in the conference championship on Saturday.

Monday – Support your Sport (wear t-shirts, jerseys, gear of your favorite sports team)

Tuesday – Wacky Tacky Day (dress as crazy as you can, but remember to ensure you meet school dress code)

Wednesday – Disney/Pixar (show your support of your favorite Disney / Pixar characters)

Thursday – Throwback Thursday (dress from your favorite era: 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s)

Friday – Red and Black day

MJHS Volleyball Match - The Maryville Junior High Volleyball teams will be playing intersquad matches at home on Monday.  The JV match will begin at 4:30 p.m. and the Varsity will play at 5:30 p.m.  We will be recognizing our 8th grade players and their parents right before the Varsity match.  There is no admission charge and concessions will be available.  We hope to see you there!

School Fees - We are beginning the process of assessing school fees in PowerSchool.  All fees must be assessed and then individually entered as paid.  The process will take a few days to finish.  Please disregard any notices from PowerSchool saying you owe fees if you have already paid.  Anyone owing fees will receive an invoice in October.

The Rebel Flyers - The Rebel Flyers drone club will meet Thursday, September 26th during morning break in room 312.  All members should attend.  We will be talking about flight time sign-ups and scheduling.

Box Tops for Education - We collect Box Tops for Education.  Currently, you can clip and send them in as you have for many years.  However, they are changing to a digital format.  Please download the Box Top app to your phone and register our school using code 320017.  Through the app you will be able to digitally scan your receipt and we will receive credit for your box tops.

Travels in the Yearbook -  The yearbook staff would like photos of places you traveled to over Summer Break.  Please email the pictures to Mrs. Luttrell at  alicia.luttrell@maryville-schools.org

MJHS Yearbooks - 2019-2020 Yearbooks are available for $40.  Yearbooks can be purchased online at www.yearbookordercenter.com by using yearbook order number 12906, or through Mrs. Luttrell in the Library.  We accept cash or checks written to MJHS.

Message from Attendance

Absent from school? -  Students MUST bring an excuse note signed by their parent or guardian, or a doctor's note when they return to school.  Excuse notes must clearly include the student's first and last name.  Excuse notes MUST be turned in to the Attendance Office located next door to the Front Office.  If students do not turn in an excuse note when absent from school, the absence becomes unexcused after 3 days.  An accumulation of unexcused absences can lead to a Truancy Board meeting with the Maryville City Schools Attendance Supervisor.  Please turn in your excuse notes.

Is your student ready to start driving?  – Students MUST request their 1010 Form in the MJHS Attendance Office before going to the DMV to receive their Learner’s Permit.  If you have additional questions, please contact Mrs. Jenkins in the school office or email chris.jenkins@maryville-schools.org

MJHS Bus Riders:  On occasion students like to have guests (friends) ride the bus home with them.  Both the regular bus rider and the guest need to have written notes from their parents.  The regular bus rider note needs to acknowledge the parent gives permission for the guest to ride the bus home with his/her child.  The guest rider note needs to acknowledge the parent gives permission for his/her child to ride the bus home with the regular bus rider.  The regular rider and the guest rider need to bring the parent permission notes to the assistant principals' office for administrative approval.  The assistant principals will stamp and sign the permission notes.  The students will then take and give the approved permission notes to the driver of the regular rider's bus.  Please keep in mind, if a bus is full of regular riders, guest riders will not be approved to ride the bus home with the regular rider, by either the assistant principal(s) and/or the bus driver at the time of boarding.  In those circumstances, the guest rider will have to utilize their normal transportation or make other arrangements with their parent to get to the home of the regular bus rider friend.  If you have questions or need clarification, please reach out to Nick Kessler, Assistant Principal or Melissa Stowers, Assistant Principal.

MJHS Cell Phone Policy Reminder:
